Oak Bay Sea Rescue Society CCGA(P) Unit #33

Search and Rescue crews are the backbone of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary’s emergency response activities. Crews consist of dedicated, volunteer professionals on call for a week at a time. The Oak Bay Sea Rescue Society has a long history and plays an integral part in saving lives at sea. It also plays a vital role in Oak Bay’s response and recovery capability.

Our Guest Speaker Doug Grant has been the Unit Leader for Oak Bay Sea Rescue (OBSR) since 2004. He joined the Oak Bay Sea Rescue Auxiliary in 2001 upon his retirement after 33 years as a teacher and school administrator. Doug has been a crew member, coxswain and Training Officer with the OBSR. Doug is married, has two grown children and five grandchildren, all who live in Victoria.
